Apolysis

Ch. 22
The process of silent institutional departure; distinct from theolysis.
Apolysis (apo + lysis: dissolution through distancing) is the process that arrives at the apoluthos condition: usually a quiet, gradual withdrawal that often the person themselves does not fully notice.

This process is generally far more common than theolysis, because it requires far less inner confrontation; this makes it both more accessible and, cognitively, less complete.
