Institutional Separation Concept

Apoluthos

Ch. 22
A person who has left a religious institution but has not touched their theogenic drive.
An apoluthos is a person who has left a religious institution but has never questioned their inner drive. This person is usually labeled "atheist" or "agnostic," but these labels can be misleading: often without realizing it, they may have put another mold in place of the old belief.

Apoluthos is the clearest example showing that institutional separation and cognitive/emotional opening (theolysis) are not the same thing.
