Metaxima is the intermediate zone between synaisthesis and theolysis. The person has now seen the mold, but their theogenic drive has not yet fully detached from it.
This is an uncomfortable threshold, but not necessarily a temporary one; metaxima is not a malfunction but a natural stop along the way.
Academic origin: Its root, metaxy, is a central concept in Eric Voegelin's political philosophy, but where Voegelin's metaxy describes a permanent, general structure of consciousness, metaxima describes a temporary, clinically trackable phase.
