Religion-Fuel Framework

Ch. 41.4
The difference between good and bad uses of the theogenic drive as fuel: it rests on structure, not intent.
The theogenic drive and thumos are raw material; in themselves neither good nor bad. Fire cooks a meal and warms a room; the same fire, left uncontrolled, burns down the house.

Good use carries three conditions: the target is the capacity itself, the method is transparent, crystallization is treated as a risk.

Bad use carries three conditions: the target is capturing the capacity, the method is hidden or unquestionable, crystallization is deliberately accelerated.

The difference lies not in intent but in structure: Luther's Ninety-Five Theses satisfies the first condition: it frees conscience. That same Luther's later antisemitic writings, however, violate the third: they use the same rhetorical fuel to dehumanize a group.
