Hammurabi, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, and Ashoka were the figures who first formulated the founding principles of modern secular law. The only legitimizing language available to them was religious.
Modern secular law silently erases this origin: the principles remain, the source is forgotten. This is crystallization run in reverse: crystallization preserves form while letting content be forgotten; the Silent Founder, instead, preserves form while letting the source be forgotten.
This fills a gap that Weber's thesis of routinization could not close: routinization does not explain why it preserves form while erasing the source.
